In case you haven’t heard, Sarah Palin just resigned as Governor of Alaska. She will be ending her reign in a couple of weeks and the Lt. Governor will be taking over. Of course many pundits are coming out and trying to figure out her reasons – everything from ‘she couldn’t take it’ to ‘she’s going to run for President in 2012’. If you look at her speech to the people of Alaska, you will see that she is leaving for the good of the people. From her speech today below:
“Political operatives descended on Alaska last August, digging for dirt. The ethics law I championed became their weapon of choice. Over the past nine months I’ve been accused of all sorts of frivolous ethics violations – such as holding a fish in a photograph, wearing a jacket with a logo on it, and answering reporters’ questions.
Every one – all 15 of the ethics complaints have been dismissed. We’ve won! But it hasn’t been cheap – the State has wasted THOUSANDS of hours of YOUR tie and shelled out some two million of YOUR dollars to respond to “opposition research” – that’s money NOT going to fund teachers or troopers – or safer roads. And this political absurdity, the “politics of personal destruction” … Todd and I are looking at more than half a million dollars in legal bills in order to set the record straight. And what about the people who offer up these silly accusations? It doesn’t cost them a dime so they’re not going to stop draining public resources – spending other peoples’ money in their game.”
As usual, it appears that Palin is looking out for her constituents. She is correct in stating that absolutely ridiculous ethics charges have been brought against her by frivolous people who could care less about wasting the State’s money on useless tasks. THESE are the people that Alaskans need to get rid off in the next round of elections. Until then however, they would have continued to waste taxpayer dollars.
I’m sure this is not the only reason that Palin has decided to leave her post. This is a great reason but I have a feeling that Palin has higher targets in mind. Also from her speech today:
“In fact, this decision comes after much consideration, and finally polling the most important people in my life – my children (where the count was unanimous... well, in response to asking: “Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children’s future from OUTSIDE the Governor’s office?” It was four “yes’s” and one “hell yeah!” The “hell yeah” sealed it – and someday I’ll talk about the details of that... )”
Personally I think Palin is ripe for running for the Senate. She needs to get out there on the National level and show the country what she is made of, not just Alaskans. She can be the Michele Bachmann of the Senate (one of the only PEOPLE who has any cojones in the House and yes that includes all of the men in Congress as well). 2010 here we come? We have yet to see but I think it would be a fantastic idea.
Now of course, the liberals will go berserk with this news. They will be making up all sorts of stories regarding Palin and why she is leaving. It will be quite pathetic – more outrageous lies from the Left but nothing either Palin or Conservatives are not used to already. Frankly it makes me sick when liberal feminists compare the attacks on Palin to the criticisms of Clinton. As usual there is going to be much more to come and honestly I’m looking forward to it. We NEED more strong and Conservative women in this country representing the millions of us that already exist. I think we will be seeing even more of Palin in the future months and it will probably be all good (and no teleprompters). Look out Liberal feminists, your worst fear is about to set herself free in the lower 48!
