Watching Disney's spectacular fireworks is just one way to enjoy the 4th of July weekend. This Top Ten Patriotic 4th of July Activities list offers several more fantastic ways to enjoy the holiday.

10. Start the holiday weekend in a patriotic mood at The American Adventure at Epcot, where Disney's largest animatronics show celebrates the founding of the United States of America.

9. Before the animatronics show starts, head to the American Adventure rotunda to hear The Voices of Liberty. Their a capella harmonies blend classic and modern American folk and patriotic songs, and the performers wear period dress.

8. Just outside the American Gardens Theatre, catch the Spirit of America Fife & Drums Corps. You can practically hear the American Revolution in the air as this band takes you back in time to the nation's founding. To complete the mood, a nearby outdoor kiosk sells Samuel Adams beer.

7. Brave the renovated Haunted Mansion ride at the Magic Kingdom. Here the creepiest remnants of the early Republic are well preserved...all 999 of them. As your ghost host reminds you, there's room for 1,000.

6. For a patriotic meal, head to one of two colonial-style restaurants in the Magic Kingdom. The Liberty Tree Tavern is an authentic recreation of a traditional eighteenth-century inn. Those on a tighter budget can dine at the Columbia Harbour House, located next to the Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square. Both restaurants feature traditional early American meals with servers (at the Liberty Tree Tavern) or cashiers (at the Columbia Harbour House) in period dress.

5. Travel to nineteenth-century America on a wooden raft that drops you off at Tom Sawyer Island, where you can discover a fort, a bouncy barrel bridge, caves, and even an old-fashioned ice cream spot.

4. Take in the sights and sounds of Main Street, U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney envisioned this as an ideal turn-of-the-century American street, complete with a sweet shop, hot dog and ice cream stands, a horse-drawn trolley, and street entertainment form a century back. This slice of Americana before the advent of the automobile is reminiscent of the days when pedestrians shared the streets with horses, and men and women wore hats.

3. Head to Disney's Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios) and march straight past Mickey's Sorcerer Hat to Grauman's Chinese Theatre, which houses the Great Movie Ride. Inside Grauman's is perhaps the best wait for any Disney ride. First you wind past authentic Hollywood relics such as costumes from the Star Wars movies or a carousel horse from Mary Poppins. Next you work your way through a screening room featuring short clips from some of Hollywood's most popular films, including a funny bit of World War II propaganda featuring FDR's image inside the American flag. The ride itself features some of America's best popular culture, ranging from The Wizard of Oz to cowboy films to 1920s gangster flicks.

2. The newly renovated Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom, featuring President Barack Obama, is a major improvement over the stiff original version. The 4th of July is the attraction's official opening.

1. Watching fireworks is one of the most traditional ways to celebrate the 4th of July. There are many excellent spots to view the Disney fireworks. One of the most amazing places to view them is from the beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort. Although 'Ohana offers excellent views of the fireworks, the most dramatic experience can be found on the beach by the Polynesian swimming pool. So pull up a lounge chair, grab a patriotic drink from the poolside bar, feel the warm lakeside breeze in your hair, and feast your eyes upon the special 4th of July fireworks as they encircle the Seven Seas Lagoon.
