My mom always told me that churches are the best way to meet “a nice single boy.” Turns out, she was right. Dallas-area churches and synagogues are packed with people from the land of Singledom, and they are often looking for a partner. This is part I of a series looking at houses of worship that cater to the single set.


Bent Tree Single Adults: Adult singles meets for bible study, trips and social activities at the Bent Tree Bible Fellowship, 4141 International Pkwy., Carrollton. 972-306-4477, www.btbf.org.

Dignity Dallas: Lesbian and gay Catholics that meet each Sunday at 6 p.m. for a religious service and social after at the Congregational Life Center Chapel of the Cathedral of Hope, 5910 Cedar Springs Rd. 214-521-5342 x1732, www.dignitydallas.org.

Genesis: Temple Emanu-El's community for Jewish singles ages 21-45. Throughout the year, they hold social, educational, social action and religious programs. They meet on the third Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Rd., 214-706-0000, www.tedallas.org.
 
Innovations: a social, recreational, cultural, educational and religious program for Jewish singles in two age groups, 20-35 and 35-60. Pulse Singles: This singles group at Lover Lane United Methodist Church sponsors monthly dances from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. at the church, 9200 Inwood Rd.
