Tonight is Milonga Tango night at El Museo del Barrio on Fifth Avenue and 104th Street and you’re invited.

First, dancers María José Sosa and Walter Pérez will offer pre-performance tango lessons. Then Los Chantas will take the stage to play their original arrangements of classic, nostalgia-laden tango songs.

Before you know it, you’ll be transported to a smoky bar in Buenos Aires circa 1929, where a suave man in a fedora sings melancholy songs of love. Is it really Carlos Gardel … or just the curtains of fog rising off Central Park and drifting across El Barrio? You’ll never know for sure. Tango is the stuff of mystery!

Tonight’s Milonga will be held upstairs on El Rufo (the roof) if the weather clears. Otherwise, all tangueros will be dancing indoors. Either way, admission is free. So what are you waiting for? ¡Vámanos!

Milonga Tango Night – Thursday, July 23, 6:30—8:30 PM

El Museo del Barrio – 1230 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street – 212-831-7272
