Hey Veterans, When I go to the VA Medical center I see, as usual, the common array of hispanic/black, caucasian and oriental decendant veterans all sitting around waiting for their 5 minutes of help. They wait for hours and hours. During all that time, I notice that there are a lot of Indian women Dr.s, Pakistani women Dr.s, and Filipino Women doctors doing male veteran care. As long as I can remember women have been screaming and complaining about having to see men doctors. They don't want men doctors. In fact they have their own clinic staffed with women dr's exclusively.
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo, Why are there so many women doctors looking at men patients?
After waiting hours and hours most of the men in the waiting rooms would see a trained monkey just to get it over with.
I myself just went to the VA Medical Facility in Orlando and needed to see triage. I go to the RED TEAM. The RED TEAM was backed up 2.5 hours I was told by the heavily accented woman behind the counter. I said I just need to get a prescription for my sore throat and cough. She reiterated the 2.5 hour wait. I took my card back and went in search of what used to be walk in GREEN TEAM CLINIC. I found it quick enough. The waiting room was empty. There were three people behind the counter. The older woman said that they were not busy at all and that was obvious from the vacant waiting room. In fact I was the only one in the waiting room except for my wife.
I explained my situation and asked to see someone to get the prescription for my cough and sore throat. Here is what she said. GO to the RED TEAM because you are registered in that team. I said 2.5 hours wait, and you are sitting around doing nothing but talking to me. She laughed and agreed that it was slow at the GREEN TEAM. She called a Dr. and he came and said the same thing: go back to the GREEN TEAM and wait. I pointed out that as a veteran at a veterans medical facility he could treat me because he was just sitting around and I was in need. Again he refused to see me telling me that I needed to go to the RED TEAM and wait around for a dr. to see me there. I pointed out that my Dr. was not in today and he couldn't see me anyway. I also said I quit the RED TEAM 5 minutes ago and wanted to join the GREEN TEAM right now. The Dr. said that takes weeks. I said again, you are sitting around doing nothing right now and I am a veteran in need and you are not willing to help me, is that right? Yes was his reply.
I turned to my wife and told her we needed to get out of this place, and I was lucky I wasn't having a stroke or heart attack at the GREEN TEAM. I surely would die there.
I went to my local drug store and consulted the pharmacist about the types of drugs I could get and sign for that would help me with my illness. He was very knowledgeable and offered several options for me to choose from, which I did. I am self medicating right now and I am pretty sure I will live thru this illness without the aid of a V.A. that does not want to help me anyway.
Well Veterans, thats the current news from the Big"O". It is sad but true.
Be Blessed;
Harm, with a sore throat and a cough..............:)
