Don't let the sun go down on celebrity music artist George Michael, that is of course unless he's cruising down the West End London highways with the top down on his new Ferrari California 2009 roadster model. The controversial star has fought with his share of press, legal, and personal struggles the past two decades, and has celebrated the lifting on the ban of his drivers license by purchasing the hottest new addition to the Prancing Horse stable lineup.

Here's the scoop from London Net:

GEORGE MICHAEL is back behind the wheel and this time he has a new Ferrari in which to cruise around London.

The multi-millionaire singer has now served his two-year driving ban - imposed for driving while under the influence of cannabis - and has taken delivery of a £150,000 Ferrari California, reports contactmusic.

That's a lot of cash to spill on a hobby that hasn't brought much luck in the past.

Apart from the driving ban, the former Wham! man also had a top of the range Mercedes stolen by someone doing a George Michael impression.

Maybe Michael thinks that the model he's chosen is so rare as to make thieves wary of snatching it; there is a long waiting list for the California, which only came out last year.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports, "There's currently a three-year waiting list [in London] for the sought after sports car, which can go from 0-60 miles per hour in under four seconds." Sounds like Michael ordered his Ferrari California before he lost his license and got his license back just in time to enjoy the sporty new ride.

Back in February of 2008, Auto Trader magazine reported the celebrity was selling his BMW 750i as a pop culture memorabilia item as well as simply adding one more pristine luxury auto to the used car market. Former Wham! singer and solo artist George Michael was the first owner of this top-of-the-range BMW 750i, which he bought in 1998.

And while George Michael’s BMW 750i cost £90,000 new, you can get your hands on the luxury motor for just £6,495.

George Michael has been at the top of the music industry for the past 25 years shifting more than 80 million records worldwide.

His career started with the Wham! – a band he formed with friend Andrew Ridgeley, where he had a host of hits including ‘Club Tropicana’.

After the duo split in 1986, Michael went solo with his second album ‘Faith’ selling 20 million copies worldwide.

The singer – real name Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou – has continued to pack out stadiums over the past two decades and has supported a wide range of charities.

Powered by a 5.4-litre V12 engine, George Michael’s old BMW 750i produces 326bhp and 361lb/ft of pulling power.

This shifts the 2.5-ton German executive car from 0-62mph (100kph) in 6.8 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.

Inside, the George Michael’s old BMW features white leather seats, a sat-nav, phone, ten speaker sound system and THREE TVs.

The BMW also boasts cruise control, air conditioning, four airbags, alloy wheels, double-glazed privacy windows and an adjustable suspension.

George Michael is the latest in a line of musicians whose old cars have appeared on Auto Trader.

Over the past 12 months we featured Madonna's BMW 7 Series , Spice Girl Mel C's Audi A3 and two Ferraris previously owned by Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay.
