“Teach your children well.” Graham Nash said it in 1970, and it is as true today as it was then.
Vacation season is here and in a year when families are struggling to make ends meet, summer vacations may seem out of reach, but two Washington, DC hotels are helping to lend a hand and to teach a few life lessons along the way.
The Savoy Suites Hotel and The Carlyle Suites Hotel, both located in the heart of our nation’s capital, are giving you and your family the opportunity to pay for a portion of your visit with the hours of service that you volunteer to organizations back in your hometown. For every 5 hours you volunteer, these two hotels will refund 50% of your room bill per night!
“You can get the whole family in on it!” says Richard Spigler, President of The Carlyle & Savoy Suites Hotels. “Summer jobs for kids are usually limited to paper routes and lemonade stands. The Serve America program allows your children to work towards something of priceless value, a vacation for your family.”
Community service as currency is an innovative answer to the President’s call to service developed by the staff of these two Washington, DC hotels. Running simultaneously with President Obama’s program, “United We Serve,” the Hotels’ “Serve America and Stay in DC” program gives you the opportunity to answer the call and participate in the renewal and recovery of our country. “The hours of community service donated benefit the hometowns of each of our guests,” says Spigler, “and defray the cost of their vacation. We’re hopeful that this program will give families who may not have been able to afford a vacation this summer, the opportunity to take an awesome trip to our nation’s capital and at the same time give back to their community back home.
Here’s how the program works:
Book your reservation at www.SavoySuites.com or www.CarlyleSuites.com under the “Serve America and Stay in DC” package. Complete 5 hours of community service (per room night confirmed) at the organization of your choosing and receive a 50% refund of your room rate (excluding taxes). Certain restrictions do apply and you’ll be required to provide proof of your community service, but it’s as easy as that!
