Dr. Ingrid Schweiger's Self-Esteem for a Lifetime: Raising a Successful Child From the Inside Out, the book is a quick, to-the-point, helpful guide for families, educators and caregivers who may be dealing with children of all ages.

Dr. Schweiger is known internationally for her work with families.  The book isn't full of theories.  Instead, it is based on Dr. Schweiger's actual clinical work with families, and incorporates her clients' experiences and responses to her suggestions.

"So many of my individual adult clients and couples are struggling with poor decisions, bad choices and behavior due to self-esteem issues.  So, I decided to write a book for parents to help children avoid some of the struggles that many of us are dealing with." says Dr. Schweiger.

The book contains real life stories, hypotheticals, and exercises to help readers focus their thoughts on the issue and provide insights into their own lives.  It points out that self-esteem is impacted by family life, school, work, one's place in the community as well as culture as a whole.

Parents may also fail to realize that they have self-esteem issues which they are passing on to their children without realizing it.

Similarly, parents may defer to the judgments of their children's principles and school teachers regarding what ails them and how it may be improved.  This deference may, sometimes, be misplaced.   Dr. Schweiger is fond of saying, "There are no perfect parents!", but she insists that parents know their children best, and that they should follow their instincts and advocate on their child's behalf if they think that educators or other caregivers are off the mark in their strategies to help their children.

Without diminishing the complexities of the issue, Dr. Schweiger has provided an easy to follow guide for parents everywhere.

Self-Esteem for a Lifetime can be purchased at amazon.com or at Barnes & Noble bookstores.
