Good news for the Bay Area: state mediators seem to be helping the negotiations between BART management and unions. In the first tangible sign of actual, you know, negotiating, both sides have agreed to keep the trains running until midnight, when Wednesday, July 8, turns into Thursday.
I found out about it through a BART update e-mail on Saturday night, but the SFGate article provided a link to the union's answer to management's hatin'-on-the-workers site. It looks more like some unsigned band's MySpace page, but who's got time to rethink the stylistic foundations of socialism when there's a strike looming?
I can't wait until those contracts are signed so that I can go back to complaining about Muni. Strike or no, contracts or not, those fares still go up on July 1.
