Age of Conan developer Funcom will reportedly cut up to 20% of its workforce and delay its upcoming PC MMORPG The Secret World by several months.
In addition to The Secret World, Funcom is also working on the next expansion for Age of Conan, called Rise of the Godslayer. Development of the Age of Conan expansion pack and its preparations for launch in Korea will continue as planned, as will the preparations for the limited beta of its first free- to-play MMO scheduled to take place during Q4.
Around 20 % of the staff of the Company will be affected by headcount reductions or forced leave, mostly in the Company's Norwegian subsidiary.
Funcom currently employs a global workforce of more than 300 employees, spread across offices in the U.S., Norway, China, and Switzerland. Funcom is best known for the Age of Conan MMORPG launched a little more than a year ago, which shipped more than 1.2 million copies to retail in 2008.
We've emailed contacts at Funcom but haven't heard any word back yet. You can read their report here.
