Fans of pop art, rejoice! The Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College presents an exciting new exhibit for fans of Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol: Personalities is a rare look into the artistic mind of the artist, displaying Polaroids from his private collection. Taken in the 1980's of celebrities, socialites, and friends will provide even more insight social circle and creative genius for those steeped in Warhol knowledge.

Personalities opened Friday, June 5 and will remain on display at CFAM until January 3, 2010. Whether you are a devout Warholian ( I may have just coined that term), just an avid art fan, or maybe, like me, you just miss the instant gratification of a Polaroid; the smell, the shaky development, the precursor to the digital camera, the Warhol exhibit is such an enjoyable experience. Polaroid subjects include a very young Carolina Herrera right before her astounding design career completely took off, a young Ric Ocasek at the peak of his fame, and Pia Miller, the millionaire's daughter and NYC socialite who very well could've paved the way for Paris Hilton.

Keeping in true pop art fashion, the museum is turning things up a notch with Warhol Wednesdays. What Warhol exhibit would be complete without Factory Fun, Live DJs, and cash bar? Admission for this great event is $10 (free for members) and is sure to be an even better way to experience art through Warhol's eyes. Sure, it's no Studio 54 but it will do.

Admission for the exhibit is covered in the $5 museum admission charge. CFAM members, Rollins faculty, students, and staff all get in for free. Museum hours are Tuesday - Friday 10 am to 4 pm and Saturday -Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm.

"An artist is someone who produces things that people don't need to have but that he - for some reason - thinks it would be a good idea to give them."
