Some bands get you through college. Some bands get you through bad breakups, failed friendships, and your own personality changes. Some bands charm you with metaphorical lyrics and make you laugh with dark humor. And every once in awhile one band can do all these things. In this case, that band is Brand New.
Hailing from Long Island, the Brand New who started out as a pop-punk band that sang lyrics of cheating girlfriends overseas ("Jude Law and a Semester Abroad") has changed over the years into a deeper, sometimes darker, group who sound a bit more grown up, a bit more learned, a bit more jaded. All of these bits transpired into "Daisy", the band's fourth and most compelling album to date. While long time fans may long for the more satirical lyrics and uptempo melodies, "Daisy" may be just what Brand New needs if they are looking for a broader fan base. Old fans, go in with an open mind. You've grown up and so did they.
If you're questioning the latest venture, why not see for yourself this Wednesday night (11/4) at 730 pm at the House of Blues? Brand New will be headlining a show with Thrice and Crime in Stereo to promote their latest album.
Tickets are $22.50 in advance, $26.25 the day of the show. Brand New shows tend to sell out fast so if you want a ticket, don't hesitate.
