The weather has been gorgeous. Central Floridians can actually enjoy a meal or a stroll outside without profusely sweating. Since our weather prayers have been answered there is no good reason to sit indoors breathing in the A/C - we had all summer to do that. This weekend hit up one of the outdoor activities happening around town.
Art Block Party - Every week Swamburger (local emcee/artist) hosts a block party with live art, music, and urban art. This Culture Mart is downtown (Magnolia Ave) and the Block Party happens on Friday, October 23 ( 9-2 am) and is free for the public.
Harbor Night's 10th Anniversary - It's hard to believe the Portofino Bay's Harbor Nights has been wining and dining folks for 10 years! For $35 you can come out and celebrate with featured wines, gourmet food samples, live jazz by The Buzzcatz, performances by Portofino's opera singers and complimentary hand-rolled cigars. All this takes place at 630 pm (October 23) - the perfect time to kick off an evening of fun under the decorative, twinkling lights. This event is 21 and older.
Off the Beaten Path Bus Tour - When the weather is nice people want to take leisurely car rides and enjoy the day. The Bus Tour gives you the leisurely ride along with the enjoyable day but it takes the driving right out of it. Bringing you to some of the less crowded bars in town (O'Keefe's Irish Pub, Lakeside Grill & Sports Pub, Trotter's Sports Bar & Grill), the bus tour begins and ends at Wall St. Plaza for a day of drink and food specials and a D.D. After the tour is over, head back to Wall St. to enjoy the 60 degree weather and some great specials. $50 gets you a designated driver, souvenir t-shirt, 1st free drink, food, beer on the bus, and more. Your ride leaves at 3pm on Saturday, October 24. Hurry up and get on the bus!
International Day of Climate Action - There may be no better day to head out and enjoy the weather then this Saturday. Catch a free bike ride to Loch Haven Park and enjoy a day of "green" events. "Bike buses" will run from around Orlando to Loch Haven Park thanks to the Florida Bicycle Association, Central Florida Veg Fest, CommuteOrlando and Get Active Orlando. Stops will be made in Belle Isle, Conway, Maitland, Econ Trail, and College Park. The event will take place next door to the Florida Renewable Energy Expo which is held at the Orlando Science Center and the VegFest, a free foodie festival. This is a great way to get outside and get involved!
In addition to all these wonderful outdoor events there are always great Farmer's Markets throughout the city and this weekend is the Mount Dora Art Festival.
