Since 1947, Orlando's own Citrus Bowl (born as the Tangerine Bowl), has played host to the Capital One Bowl. Every year at 1 pm on New Year's Day, two teams face off in this non-BCS bowl. Airing before the Rose Bowl annually, the Capital One Bowl is broadcast on ABC and not only brings attention to two great teams but it leads tourists and fans alike to our fun city.
Michigan State and Georgia go head to head this year and for those of you watching the game, you're in for a treat as you watch two of the nation's top running backs face off in what should be an exciting match-up. This could be the perfect follow-up to last year's extraordinary match-up between Florida and Michigan.
Tickets for the Capital One Bowl are still available for $80 (however, advance parking tickets are sold out and you will need to take the shuttle service). For those who are looking to take in the game in style, the Uprights Club has tickets available for $150 (offers a V.I.P. tent, open bar, catered buffet, lounge area with TVs, and a parking pass). Club seats are also offered for the elite football fans out there.
Various events will take place before and during the bowl game. For Capital One Bowl ticketholders, Universal Studios is offering a discount ticket price ($57) on New Year's Eve. Enjoy a day at either Universal Studios park but can only be taken advantage of at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium Office or by calling 407.423.2476. Other events include a Pep Rally at Pointe Orlando (free with Bowl Patch or $5 the day of) at 5 pm and 545 pm. Capital One Fanfest at McCracken Field (free with Bowl Patch or $10 a day) at 9 am. And never to be missed, the Capital One Bowl Mascot Contest. The mascot of the year will be crowned at halftime in front of the nation!
There's no better way to follow up a New Year's Eve party than a New Year's Day football game. It's not too late to get your tickets!
