Join Art Outlet for their third annual Ofrenda 2009 - Art for the Dead! This annual Ofrenda exhibition and celebration is presented in partnership with the Torpedo Factory Art Center on the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria.
Events include a free Masked Ball, an artist-led sugar skull activity, a performance by Mariachi Estrellas, live music (rock, swing, and blues), belly dancing, silk trapeze performances and the Ofrenda Parade! You can participate in the exhibition by bringing your own personal remembrances — ofrendas — to contribute to the artist-made public altar honoring those who are no longer with us. Dress up in your favorite Halloween finery and join in the fun!
As a part of the celebration, Art Outlet will feature a multi-media art exhibition at the Torpedo Factory Art Center from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. A public altar outside the Torpedo Factory will include candles and incense.
