2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS

I reported last Friday that there was a large car show being held at Bakers of Milford by the Michigan F-Body Association, and I made sure to take my own advice and check out the show.  Club administrator Brian Meissen told me that they expected a great turnout, but when I arrived at the show I could not believe the number of cars in attendance.  When I was headed out to Milford that morning, I was concerned that the rain may spoil things a bit but by noon it had become a gorgeous day for a car show.

Bakers huge parking lot was so packed full of show cars and spectators that I had a hard time finding a spot to park, and even that area had some great looking f-bodies who didn’t enter the show parking area.  The main lot was so packed that cars were lined up several rows deep in the grass behind the parking lot and although it was almost entirely Camaros and Firebirds, the variety amongst them was amazing.

The Camaro seemed to be the more prevalent model, but I would contribute that to the popularity of the 2010 Camaro, as there were a ton of the 5th gen Camaro models in attendance.  I know that General Motors sent down a few 2010 Camaros for spectators to good a hands-on look, but there were so many spotless new models there that it was hard to tell which were privately owned and which were not.  I expected a few of the 2010s, but was amazed at how many were there.  I think that this show was a great endorsement for the new Camaro, as throughout the show field it was showcased nicely.

Brand new models aside, the show was comprised of a nice spread of the other four generations, although it seemed like the 4th generation was the most popular.  From bone stock and fully original to Pro Street and fully built, every generation had a broad spectrum of cars to show off why the GM F-body has remained such a popular set of cars, and the vehicles were from around the US and not just Michigan.  Throughout the parking lot, plates from states such as Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Illinois were scattered throughout the lot.   One family from Illinois made the meet and greet a stop on their summer vacation to Niagara Falls and even after driving 453 miles to the show, their 1999 Pontiac Trans Am looked great (below).

This was the 5th Annual Meet and Greet Car Show for the Michigan F-Body Association, and based on the success of this year’s show, even with the early morning rain, the 6th Annual event is a show that you should make a note of for next year.  Even if you’re not a GM enthusiast, this event was a great time with an awesome collection of classic and modern Chevrolet Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds.  Congratulations to Brian Meissen and his group for putting on one of the best shows I’ve been to this year…I look forward to next year!
