Then you need to check out the Rochester Lions webpage, as they are running a charity raffle to give away a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. (Click here for full information) To promote their exciting raffle, the Lions held a pair of car shows last weekend at the Rochester Municipal Park, with all proceeds going to the Leader Dogs for the Blind. The new Camaro to be given away on August 9 was proudly displayed with a backdrop of some of the best looking classic and antique cars in the area.
I especially enjoyed Sunday’s Festival of Cars, as it featured strictly stock/factory appearing classic cars. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against modifying cars as I own a modified 1972 Dodge Demon 340, but I don’t know that I’ve been to an entire show of showroom stock vehicles. Almost every car appearing exactly as they did the day they left the dealership lot for the first time, and some of the cars are probably nicer now than they were that day.

Along with being a field of clean, original vehicles, there was also a broad spectrum of cars from all around the world. All of the car show regulars were there with pristine Camaros, Mustangs, Cudas, Chargers, and Corvettes; but they were joined by rare vintage Jaguars, Opals, and an MG or two.

My slideshow below shows just a few of the gorgeous cars at the show, and while you may have missed it this year, this was the 30th Annual Festival of Cars, so everyone reading this should bookmark the Lions page (click here) and keep an eye out for the dates of next year’s show.

Also, last weekend’s shows were not the only events held by the Rochester Lions club, as they are hosting the Rockin’ Rods & Rochester car show on August 9, 2009. This show promises to be even better than the first two, as over 600 cars are expected to flood downtown Rochester on the same day that the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will be given away. The final drawing will be held on the 9th at the Leader Dog Training Center on Walnut Blvd, and for those of you who want a shot at a free 2010 Camaro, you should act fast as the raffle is limited to just 700 tickets. The price of the ticket is tax deductible, and with the poor economy right now, charities like the Leader Dog organization are the hardest hit, so let’s support the Rochester Lions in their effort to help a great program and come out to their August 9th show in Rochester and check out their 2010 Camaro raffle.
*Update - I spoke with Randy Whitmire from the Rochester Lions Club, and he told me that the raffle tickets are nearly sold out. For your chance at the 2010 Camaro, act quickly and call 248-930-6420 today!
