Misha’s Coffeehouse and Coffee Roaster is a coffee lovers dream come true. The casual atmosphere, the refrigerators covered with announcements, the alphabet-magnet menu, all of it just screams “Relax! Enjoy the coffee!”

And you will.

Misha’s is dedicated to their art in a way that the average coffee shop could only dream to be. They have a few pastries on display but the bar is dominated by huge, glass jars of beans. Rich, beautiful, dark beans that have been hand selected the world over and roasted right here, on site.

Just five years after they opened in 1991, Misha’s was awarded the title 'Best Coffee in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area' by the readers of The Washingtonian Magazine- with good reason.

The coffeehouse’s tasters choose their beans from high-altitude, 100% Arabica trees that have been designated as either “AA” or “Supremo” by their country of origin. Here at the Coffee Roaster the well-trained, friendly staff roasts the beans in a huge, old fashioned, copper roaster that dominates the “Smoking” room. Of themselves they are confident enough to say “We’ve mastered our craft; we brew great coffee and make espresso drinks with flair.”

In the café itself there is limited seating and at busy times of the day the menagerie of students, businessmen, and coffee enthusiasts can leave you standing. The shop keeps board games, newspapers, magazines, and benches in the sun to entertain patrons. You are encouraged to linger over your drink and relish the age old pleasure of a good cuppa joe.

The only warning have about Misha’s goes out to the Venti Java Chip Frappuccino with Whip-lovers among us:

This strong coffee tastes like coffee and no amount of sugar will hide it.
