Whether it is location, convenience, or just budget - we cannot always satiate our coffee cravings at unique little coffeehouses. This article is just a quick tip for everyone who has ever found themselves ordering a coffee after dinner, with breakfast, or at a gas station. Anytime you get a drip coffee, you are taking a chance. You may be safer at a 5-star restaurant than in your school's cafeteria but no matter the venue only  The Almighty and The Waitress know when that pot was brewed.

Next time you order a cup and pause to wonder whether this is a really bad blend or just  yesterday's brew reheated, try this trick to set your mind at ease:

Watch carefully as you add cream to your coffee. If the cream, poured straight into the cup, hits the bottom and then circulates back up to the top of the mug, on its own, then the coffee is fresh and your server is doing the best she can with what she has. On the other hand, if the cream disappears into your mug and needs a good stir to mix with the black java then your coffee is stale stale stale, and you are completely within your rights to send it back for a newer model.
