When most people think of video games, they think of violence, and children wasting their minds away in front of the TV. Although, I believe both of these thoughts are highly debatable. They are created by a false perception that has been projected on the public by certain social groups, but lets not fight that battle today. Today, my dear readers, we are going to speak of spiritual enlightenment through video games, more specifically, by use of the Nintendo Wii.

You've got to be kidding me? Oh no... I'm not kidding you. About 2 weeks ago I was finally able to purchase a copy of Wii Fit. It was as if the Gods had smiled down on me. There it sat behind a locked glass case with a light shining down upon it. It was the holy grail in a over flowing maze of mass produced Chinese made roll backs. The clerk behind the counter was surrounded, each person wanting his attention, and requiring help in that department. I darted back and forth between each of their faces, wondering who if any, also wanted the Wii Fit.

I heard a noise from behind. I turned and saw a disgruntled looking woman in a blue vest placing DVDs back on a shelf from a returns box. A quick scan of her person revealed a scrunchy cord with keys dangling from her wrist. Music played, birds sang, and I knew the Wii Fit was mine. I quickly left my waiting spot, forgetting the swamped sales clerk. I approached the woman, and informed her of my need. Looking slightly annoyed that I had interrupted her quest to replace the movies, she turned towards the case, unlocked the door, and placed the Wii Fit in my hands. I happily danced through the aisles, searching for my husband, triumph clearly showing on my face.

What does all this have to do with spirituality? Well to my surprise and delight, the Wii Fit not only includes Yoga, but it also includes breathing exercises and meditation practice. Who would have thought? Does it work? It certainly does. What I love about the Wii Fit, is that by use of the balance board I can actually see what progress, if any I have made since beginning. I have noted a great improvement in my balance, breathing, and meditation over the past 2 weeks. I'm still not where I want to be, but it is helping, and I believe that this product can help me accomplish my goals, or in the very least put me well on my way.

Check back in the upcoming weeks for more on the Wii Fit and the path to enlightenment. I will also share how much, if any weight I am losing.
