November 9 - Dominican born, MLB Sammy Sosa’s complexion is fading like the value of a dollar. He appeared exceedingly pale last week during a photo op, sparking rumors. There has been speculation that he is suffering from the side effects of chronic steroid use which is making his skin pale. (Unlikely) There are also rumors that he is suffering from vitiligo which is the skin disorder that Michael Jackson allegedly suffered from. (Possible however vitiligo is a slow process and takes years to become so apparent). Some people have chalked it up to just very poor lighting during the photo shoot. (Probable)

Rebecca Polihronis, a former Cubs employee, indicates that in reality “He is going through a rejuvenation process for his skin. Women have it all of the time. He was surprised he came out looking so white.” She continued and added "He is in the middle of doing a cleansing process to his skin. The picture is deceiving."

Sossa has said, "If you saw me in person, you would be surprised. When you see me in person, it is not going to seem like the picture. People who saw him in person did not react the same way. He can't believe it is such a big deal."

Perhaps it is as simple as that. It is after all a prescription for a rush to judgment. Take one retired well known MLB with a history of steroid use. Add the reality of skin rejuvenation and stir well with the poor lighting. Add a splash of suspicion and renewed interest in Michael Jackson. ..and presto! It becomes as Sousa said “a big deal”.
