
Artomatic, a month long multi-media art extravaganza, opens today. The show is a collection of visual arts, music, movies and theatre. Art enthusiast can explore more then a thousand exhibits listen to music, watch dance performances and theatre or attend one of the many art workshops. The show is free to attend but donations are appreciated.
Artomatic is an artist run free to attend event, with no paid staff. The show features mostly local DC area artists but will also feature artists from exotic locations like England. As Artomatic celebrates its 10th anniversary it promises music, mayhem, fashion, film and fire. Hi-lights this weekend include, The Last Days of Kind Solomon on 5/29, Evokiai on 5/30, and Bruce Britton Theatre Company on 5/31.
Artomatic has a little of everything. If visitors can't find something to tickle their fancy then they don't appreciate art. Some of the show stopping hi-lights during the one month run include, a dance party, belly, burlesque and ballet dancing, theater performances by Flush Gordon and the Criminal Union of Nefarious Treachery (featuring Joe the Plumber), The St. Mark's Players and improv. Stand up comedy, a fashion show and fire dancing are also promised to appear. To satisfy your thirst for knowledge there are workshops and lectures covering dance, theatre and photography as well as the business and legal sides of art.
The show is conveniently located in the building atop the Navy Yard Metro Ball Park exit. The Show which opens today runs through July 5th.
