Here we go again, another overly witty, slightly humorous, about to be taken out of context rant from the D.C. Sports Examiner.

It is true that I am getting a little bored. Here in D.C we already have a few folks examining the Wizards and Capitals and the Redskins and Nationals are dormant, there is nothing for poor little ole me to do but complain. I guess in that light you don’t have much left to do but disagree.

Anywho, I am hoping against all hope that I become the blogger you all love to hate. Or the hater you hate to love, whichever you prefer. We can turn this into a healthy relationship, a stress reliever, a way to let all your anger out. (If you are not sure where this is coming from click here and read the post and comments.)

So let’s get started, I will rant and you just let the insults and irrational disagreements fly…..it’s a good thing.

Today’s topic -- it is time for Gary Williams to go. Every Maryland basketball fan that is still drunk over his national title victory in 2002 needs to realize that this man has hit a ceiling.

Juan Dixon and Lonnie Baxter are long gone and that title looks like a distant memory. Since then the likes of Nick Caner-Medley, Mike Jones, Drew Nicholas and the recently departed James Gist have burst the bubble that was Gary’s growing legacy.

In terms of perception, the Terps have fallen out of national favor and are now relegated to the bottom tier of the ACC. Whether it is that Gary’s boys have failed to reach the NCAA tournament in three of the past four years or that some of Maryland’s best basketball products are shunning College Park, the fact remains the aura of the Turtle is tainted.

I say blame coach Williams. The man that brought a program from the brink of oblivion to two straight final fours has now stood there sweating and screaming as his team falls.

"Some people think it is ancient history," Williams reportedly said during October’s ACC media day when asked about his forgotten title. "It is not as ancient history as Duke's last title" in 2001.

So does he really think his 2009 team has a shot at repeating that ancient history? Does he really think that a team with no inside presence can scrap its way to anything more than a sixth or seventh place finish in the ACC? Not a chance, just ask Morgan State. Braxton Dupree and Jerome Burney were all that was left in the interior for this season and these two averaged a combined 4.3 points per game last season. When the Terps are NIT bound this March we can blame our madness on this fact, and on Gary.

Too many things have to go right for this team to succeed. They have to shoot lights out, play a team without a strong post player and/or have the team turn it over 28 times to have a chance. Either all or at least one of those things has to happen for the Terps to win, just ask Georgia Tech.

Maryland shot only 32 percent against the Yellow Jackets, went 5-for-26 from 3-point range and were outrebounded 49-39. That will simply not get it done on any other day. Yet another example of where Gary has gone wrong, it is time for him to follow his recent string of failed players out the door.

Oh and for those of you who haven’t got your hands on this little nugget of delight about the Terps’ star player,Greivis Vasquez is a clown.

Garyland is a dump.
