Good news Nats fans. I know you could have used some of this kind of news a month ago when the team was wallowing in a slump and not exciting the fan base by trouncing the Mets’ playoff run, but good news is good news so here it is.
Hot off the presses (yesterday afternoon’s presses) comes an exciting MASN announcement. Take a gander.
----------
MASN, the local leader in live sports entertainment, will launch a full-time HD channel in March of 2009 and will more than double the number of HD telecasts of Nationals and Orioles games.
Expanding on MASN's successful first season utilizing high definition technology, the network will air up to 200 Major League Baseball games in HD in 2009, giving sports fans an HD game every night of the season. Additionally, the channel will carry Ravens preseason games, selected NCAA Division I football, basketball, and lacrosse games, and ESPN News in HD.
MASN's first season with high definition programming made available 40 Orioles games and 40 Nationals games in HD to 21 different cable and satellite providers throughout the seven state region.
"MASN will continue to bring fans maximum access to the Orioles and the Nationals by expanding our HD line up next season," said MASN spokesman Todd Webster. "MASN's 2009 baseball schedule will give fans an HD game every night of the season, as we more than double the number of games in high definition. The dedicated HD channel gives MASN the ability to provide other HD programming, including Ravens preseason football games, NCAA Division I football, basketball and lacrosse, as well as ESPN News."
Many of MASN's distributors will carry the full time HD channel, including Comcast, DirecTV, Cox, and RCN.

Alright, I already know what you are going to say. The Nationals haven’t looked that good in regular definition the last couple of years on MASN. But 2009 is a new year and a new way to watch the Nats, as the local leader in live sports entertainment is giving its viewers a full-time commitment to High Definition.
The only hope Nats fans have now is that Lastings Milledge and everyone’s favorite wild swinging hot head Elijah Dukes aren’t too busy worrying about how their socks look in HD to catch a pop up.
Here’s hoping that we see more HD wins than ever before, so D.C. gets its money’s worth out of our new park and MASN gets its maximum access.
