The definition of wellness is “the quality of state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort.” – Dictionary.com
I have made an effort to achieve “wellness” since I can remember. When I was young, I accomplished this without even trying. I knew that participating in sports, hanging out with my friends, and having money to spend gave me the most satisfaction and I did these things as much as possible. But, as we get older and life gets more complicated, we have to actually work to keep balance, health and happiness in our lives. Our careers, bills, children, relationships, family drama and actual responsibilities can just suck the life right out of us and make us downright tired!
The trouble is, that as we all know, nobody else has time to make your life happy and it really is up to you to think about your own health and well-being. We all know we make the best mothers, fathers, wives, employees and friends when we take care of and feel good about ourselves. I know, we are all busy and its hard to find time to get everything done, let alone take time for ourselves. I have two kids under the age of 5, a husband, work, rental properties and an extended family that needs my help a lot of the time. But how can we can we take care of others, if we don’t take care of ourselves. So let’s take this challenge together. Over the next days and months, I’m going to find ways to bring wellness into my, (and hopefully your,) life. I’m talking about everything from healthy foods and fads, to creative ways to exercise, financial well-being, alternative medicine and techniques, beauty tips and anything and everything we can think of to help us feel good! I welcome any ideas that you have for me to share with our readers.
