The obesity crisis in the U.S. is a problem that has been plaguing health and fitness experts and enthusiasts for far too long. Many have been trying to prevent its growth by aiming to bring health and fitness programs to young children. For those young children without health and fitness programs in their schools, parents can still open them up to these ideals through the use of videos. Following are a few of the most fun and effective children's fitness videos out there.

Happy Healthy Monsters

This is a Sesame Street video that features some favorite muppets (such as Elmo, Zoe, and a jumping cow) and celebrities (such as Andy Richter and India Arie). The general idea is that Grover is hosting a fitness show that is being watched by Elmo and Zoe, who participate with him along with some real children. The video divides its attention between healthy eating habits and healthy exercise habits, and it has about an equal focus on each. This is a lively and humorous video that can be fun for kids of all ages, but it is generally marketed towards kids in the 3 - 8 age range.

Fit Kids' Workout

Fit Kids' Workout is an exciting workout video for older children, those in around the 8 - 12 age range. These videos provide 5 and 10 minute exercise routines for kids that incorporate hip-hop dance elements. The workouts are led by Judy Notte Howard, a person who has had extensive experience teaching physical education to young people and helping them to achieve their fitness potentials.

Fitness Beginnings

Fitness Beginnings is not a specific video, but a very large series of children's fitness videos. They offer a great variety of topics, including dance, team sports, infant development, hula, martial arts, and rope jumping. Their website allows you to search for videos by age group, category (type of exercise), or brand.
