It was as though Jim Leavitt had died and gone to heaven.
No, we're not talkilng about his contract that makes him the highest-paid football coach in the Big East Conference.
There were 62 high school teams on hand this past weekend for the 7-on-7 "Sling-and-Shoot" tournament hosted by the University of South Florida.
"This is great!" Leavitt exclaimed as he prowled the fields on Saturday.
Action was non-stop.
Eventual winner was Hillsborough High for the larger schools. Plant High's junior varsity won the competition for small schools and junior varsity teams.
Leavitt, however, was not the name coach in attendance. That honor went to former Bucs coach Jon Gruden who was there watching his son Deuce, a receiver for Carrollwood Day School.
In all, there appeared to be no less than 2,500 high school players competing.
USF coaching staff got up close and personal with the big men as the Bulls also held their Big Man Challenge.
In all, it was a great arena to take a close look at a lot of talent in one area.
