USF quarterback Matt Grothe has a great suggestion.
To salvage the season, win the conference and get a decent bowl bid, the Bulls should simply run the table.
Okay, here's what the "table" looks like:
10-18: Syracuse at home
10-25: at Louisville
10-30: at Cincinnati
11-15: Rutgers at home
11-23: UConn at home
12/6: at West Virginia
Grothe also feels USF can beat anyone if the Bulls stay healty and execute.
Can you think of two bigger "ifs?"
First up, USF should dominate Syracuse. Syracuse plays West Virginia this week and may get crushed. Talk about softening up an opponent.
Things get dicey for the Bulls after that. They are certainly capable of losing to both Louisville and Cincinnati. Rutgers is in a totally down year, advantage USF.
The final two games will be the toughest. UConn visits Tampa for a Sunday night game on Nov. 23. The Huskies play the type of game that will cause problems for USF and one big problem is running back Donald Brown.
At West Virginia? The Mountaineers are getting their act together and that game will be tougher than tough.
Health and execution. Two factors missing against Pittsburgh.
There's no indication the Bulls can stay healthy for six Big East games. Simply seems like too much to ask.
As for execution, they better find a way to stop the opposition and they better find a way to run the football.
Yes, it is possible to win all six games. It is also possible and more probable that they can lose two or three in that span.
Run the table, win out?
Slight chance.
Win three or four, lose two or three? Seems more in the ballpark.
Stay tuned.
