Ever feel like the best jobs and companies to work for are never in your own backyard? According to the recent Money section of CNN.com, the tri county area of South Florida may bring some expected and unexpected companies to add to the resource list of future employers.
American Express- Located in Ft. Lauderdale, Plantation to be exact, Amex has over 68,000 employees working both domestic and international. What makes them so popular is their strength for internal job moves with nearly 6,000 in 2007. The average travel counselor, a popular hourly position pays $36,222. The longevity of the organization and it's international appeal and 24/7 hour schedules makes this a solid career choice for people to explore whichever time frame works best. Baptist Health South Florida- With locations in Miami, South Miami and Coral Gables this medical powerhouse employs thousands and all three locations made the top 100 list. With perks that go above and beyond the norm such as adoption aid up to $10,000, three child care centers and nursing retention bonuses, the secret may well be out that this is a strong organization to work for.
