Homemade popcorn balls are sticky and yummy.

The premade, prepackaged popcorn balls sold in the store around Halloween provoke an inkling of nostalgia, and a craving for the homemade variety of this high fiber treat.  This popcorn ball recipe is easy to make and deliciously chewy and gooey.

Classic Popcorn Ball Recipe

1) Start with:

7 cups popped popcorn

2) Mix separately in saucepan:

1 cup sugar

1/3 cup water

1/3 cup light corn syrup

1 tsp. salt

1/4 cup butter

3) Cook until mixture reaches 250 degrees on a candy thermometer.

4) Remove from heat, stir in:

1 tsp. vanilla extract

5) Pour over popcorn in large bowl, stirring constantly to mix well.

6) Shape with buttered hands into balls.
