Julian Bakery breads make for some fantastic low-carb recipes

Earlier this year, I told you about one of the best low-carb breads I have ever tasted from a company called Julian Bakery. Their Smart Carb #1 regular bread has just 1g net carb along with 12g fiber and 12g protein and their Smart Carb #2 cinnamon almond raisin bread contains only 2g net carbs, 13g fiber, and 16g protein. These low-carb breads are indeed the real deal and I’ve enjoyed incorporating them into my healthy low-carb lifestyle over the past few months.

In Episode 77 of “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube”, Christine and I wanted to show you a couple of creative recipes that include the Julian Bakery Smart Carb breads to show you what you can do with this spectacular bread. We’ll provide the details about the recipes after the video, but we wanted to take you into our kitchen to show you how to make your very own homemade French toast for breakfast and then some mouthwatering grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Watch today’s video to see how these dishes turned out for us:

For the French toast recipe, here are the ingredients you’ll need:

JIMMY’S LOW-CARB FRENCH TOAST
3 slices of Julian Bakery Smart Carb #2 bread
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 packets of Truvia or favorite sweetener
3 whole eggs
2 Tbs heavy whipping cream
2-3 Tbs butter
Sugar-free maple syrup (optional)

In a small bowl, beat cinnamon, sweetener, eggs, and cream with a fork until well mixed. In a large skillet, turn heat on medium-high and allow butter to melt in pan. Dip the Julian Bakery cinnamon almond raisin bread into the egg mixture and flip allowing the coating to completely cover the bread. Shake slightly over the egg mixture and carefully move to the skillet. Repeat with the other slices. Cook for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side and plate. You may add additional butter on top plus some sugar-free maple syrup for a fabulous low-carb breakfast!

For the super-easy grilled cheese recipe, here’s what you need:

JIMMY’S LOW-CARB GRILLED CHEESE
6 slices of Julian Bakery Smart Carb #1 bread
2 Tbs Duke’s mayonnaise or your favorite
6 slices of Colby Jack, Cheddar or your favorite cheese
2-3 Tbs butter

Heat up a large skillet on medium-high and melt butter. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on a slice of the Julian Bakery bread and place mayo side up in skillet. Repeat with two more slices. Alternate placing two slices of cheese on top of each bread in the skillet. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the remaining slices of the Julian Bakery bread and place mayo side down on top of the bread in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bread turns golden brown and flip. Cook for another 3-4 minutes and plate.

We will be sharing two more superb low-carb recipes using Julian Bakery breads–a patty melt and bread pudding recipe–coming soon! Keep watching!
