Ima Your Horse and trainer Sue Watkins of Lincoln, California are competing in the Extreme Mustang Challenge during the Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento, Calfornia on June 12-14.
The Extreme Mustang Makeover features 50 trainers and the classically American Mustang. The Mustang Heritage Foundation (MHF) and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) created the Extreme Mustang Makeover and Mustang Challenge events to highlight the American Mustang. In this national training competition, each trainer is given a wild mustang and for 100 days, they work with each animal to gentle and train them.
Sue Watkins is one of those trainers and her mustang Ima Your Horse is coming along beautifully.

The trained mustangs will be judged on conditioning, groundwork , and a "Horse Course" that requires maneuvers and includes obstacles found in trail and recreational riding situations.
The purpose of the competition is to showcase the beauty, versatility, and trainability of these rugged horses that roam freely on public lands throughout the West, where they are protected by the BLM under Federal law. The mustangs then participate in a competitive bidding process and are adopted out to horsemen and women providing good homes to the now trained mounts.
In Sue’s words, “It takes a countryside to help a mustang go from wild to mild so please back me up and cheer me and 'Ima Your Horse' on as we aim to win!!”
