It has come to my attention that there are a few female Nashville artists that all have some amazing things going on this weekend that need to be brought to your attention! A little birdie sent me links for each of the following events within and/or on top of Nashville's Downtown First Saturday Art Crawl of October this Saturday, October 3rd, and I am having a hard time wondering where my schedule will lead me. Hopefully, you can check these out and let me know where you'll be at to make my decisions a wee bit easier.
First up, Mandy Stoller is at Twist, etc. at Arcade #58 from 6-9pm. and there will be cake! What is she celebrating other than some of the most innovative art that you'll see East of the Mississippi? Well, she has decided to throw a party for her mom called Party for My Mom! Not only has Mandy's mom inspired her work of Rhonda and Agatha and an array of various homemade videos, photos, drawings and everything else you can think of to find the meaning of life within art (take the test on this here link and see what your answers will do for you for starters), but come out and celebrate Mandy's mom if for nothing else simply because Mandy wants to show thanks for her mom for ''being the most frickin' amazing person in the whole wide world!!"
And while you're strolling through Ms. Stoller's fabulous party at Twist, etc., why not stop by to see the closing reception for Nashville's well-known artist, Julia Martin, and her show of new works called POSTERNA. Also from 6-9pm, The Rymer Gallery is opening it's doors to celebrate the opportunity to exhibit such a wonderful local talent with unlimited boundaries or possibilities within her craft. After being encouraged by art teachers in her Nashville youth, then swept away to New York's School of Visual Arts and the School of Visual Arts in Savannah, GA, Martin has returned home with her skills honed and her imagination running wild within her wondrous paintings. Not one to boast, Martin typically lets her paintings speak for themselves. For that reason, I will point you in the right direction, let you see her brilliance for yourself, and bid you 'you're welcome' for another date.
Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to throw a shout-out to Julie Sola and Andee Rudloff for participating in a groundbreaking union of women artists presenting their varying art forms at the Square Space Gallery, a place of artistic endeavors. Located on the historic town square of Gallatin, Tn, in beautiful building of circa 1905 formerly a bank, this exhibit's opening reception this Saturday, October 3, from 10am-5pm will definitely give you your money's worth of time and art if you so choose to witness "Cast A Wide Net, Art of Many Women." Although not all of the featured artists will be present at the show, I promise that their art won't disappoint at all. If anything, you can go visit to celebrate these artists' moms as well!
