If you're one of those New Yorkers who prides yourself on living in the crème de la crème of culinary haunts, you're probably not a fan of all inclusive vacations.
After all, you want to eat good food. Not just resort food. Even if it means missing out on free mimosas and fruit salad at breakfast, fresh baked cookies, snacks, free chips and salsa, free beer, free wine, free room service when the weather is bad and you just feel like staying your room, and of course free dessert. All day.
So if you want to reconsider, there's currently a $69 all-inclusive special in Cancun, as well as half a dozen vacations under $125 per person, per night available through BookIt.com.
First up on the list, Hotetur Beach Paradise is offering a rock bottom $69, per person, per night package for travel until 4/19/09. Two kids 12 years and younger stay free. An extra junior suite is also available for an extra $20 per person, per night. Book by January 19th.
Next, there's a $79 all-inclusive special at Holiday Inn Cancun Arenas. Now until 1/31/09, spend $79 a person, or add an additional $10 for 2/1/09 through 4/18/09 travel dates. Meals and drinks included, ocean front rooms are an additional $20 and kids 12 and under stay free.
At Royal Solaris Cancun, pay $89 from now until January 31st. Or you can pay an additional $15 for stays during 3/1/09 through 4/3/09. This resort also features a kids stay free program, kids club, 4 swimming pools, live entertainment, restaurants, and more.
Take a look at The Oasis Cancun all inclusive special at just $94 per person, per night with early booking from now until 1/31/09. Families can bring up to two children 12 years and under for a free stay. If you're traveling from 2/109 to 3/6/09, pay $115 per person, per night. All drinks and meals are included within the resort's 12 Restaurants, 10 Bars and disco.
The Crown Paradise Club Cancun is offering an all inclusive special for $109 a night until 1/31/09, and kids stay free. Add an additional $10 for travel from 2/1/09 to 4/16/09. And if you're traveling with family, this might be a resort to keep an eye on. It was voted best for families in the Caribbean in the 2008 Tripadvisor Choice Awards. Choose from 7 restaurants, 8 bars, one waterpark, and a beachfront location.
If you're going to book at any of the resorts above, make sure and read the fine print about any black-out dates, taxes, or any extra gratituities. It's also wise to check in with tripadvisor.com to see customer ratings and reviews of each resort. The above packages are ideal for those who want a quick getaway on the cheap, but aren't necessarily looking for the lap of luxury. After all, these aren't exactly thousand dollar a night resorts during peak season, so don't show expecting the world. Show up expecting to relax, lie on a warm beach, sip on free margaritas, and save some money while doing it.
