Two words for you: Brunch daily. Two more words: Oak Bar.
There is nothing better than sitting outside with your sweetie and taking back a glass of wine or a latte. Add a very reasonably priced menu and an enclosed outdoor area, and heaven isn't too far away. I just realized where that reference is from ... sorry everyone.
In my neighborhood (East Williamsburg), finding a good place to get some brunch noms can get challenging. Oak Bar has given me a reason to not drag myself over to Grand Avenue or Fort Greene when the weekend hits. The restaurant has a classy interior and a cozy deck in the back for one-on-one or group brunch and dinner. Technically it is a wine bar, which is usually a pretty big put off to me, but this place won me over in so many ways. First, the most expensive brunch menu item is only $12 and everything actually tastes good, varying from Fresh Ricotta & Banana Pancakes to the absolutely amazing Brunch Enchiladas. The name "brunch enchiladas" does not give this food item justice: Imagine if a panda and a koala had a love baby, and its glaze filled you with ecstasy.
It is a great place to spend a couple hours getting to know someone or hanging out in a new local with your honey. Be forewarned, however, that eating at Oak Bar is a lengthy affair, so this is not a good blind date spot.
However, every up has a down. I went here for dinner about a week ago and was not so thrilled. The menu isn't as good and the service went from being Europeanly laid back to nearly nonexistent. But ignore that: Brunch enchiladas for everyone!
