I arbitrarily pulled the phone
numbers of three bars in downtown Indianapolis.
The one that opened the earliest was 10:00 AM.  One of them
opened at 4:00 PM.  The other was 11:00 AM.

What's with the bars, Russell?

Acts 2:14-21

In the last article, it was observed that some
Israelites (from all parts of the world) were looking at a bunch of uneducated followers-of-Jesus in amazement.

Why?

Because they were heard speaking in the languages
of the countries they represented.  If a Jew, born and
bred from one of the Asian countries was there, he heard
an Asian language spoken.  If from one of the African
countries, then it was one of those languages.  Whatever
the language, it was spoken fluently and declaring the
wonderful works of God.

What was more amazing is that those speaking these languages
not so much as spent one minute studying these languages.
In short, what was happening was supernatural.

Some of the crowd said, "These guys are drunk!" while others
said, "What does all of this mean?"

One of the weirdos, named Peter, steps forward and starts
speaking.

The Scripture Said This was Coming. v.14-21

"You men of Judaea, and all others who are camping out at
Jerusalem, listen to what I'm saying and let this be known:
We are not drunk.  Stink! It's nine AM, for cryin out loud!
(thus, the above reference about the bars in Indy)

What you see going on was written about by the prophet Joel!"

Peter then quoted from the Old Testament prophet.  Now...understand this...

THIS crowd knew the Old Testament.  They did NOT consider it to be dried
up literature.  They studied it all their lives, and when Peter started
quoting from it, they knew exactly what he was referencing.

I'll share it with you at high level. According to Joel:
1) The Spirit of God was going to reveal himself
2) He'll show himself supernaturally through people
3) He'll show himself supernaturally through the planet 4) He'll show himself supernaturally through the heights

Furthermore, when Joel talked about God revealing himself, he was
also going to crack down on those who rebelled against him.

In other words, "This is going down right now!"

OK, Pete.  You have our attention.
