Imagine yourself on Southbound 65 driving toward downtown Indianapolis. It is 7:15 AM.  The highway is loaded, but moving steadily. You're used to this.  Although the traffic momentum is not exactly that of the speed limit, you accept it.  It is the norm.

Then it happens.  Traffic comes to a halt.

You groan and say, "Great!  Another accident!"

A few minutes pass and you're not moving.

A few more minutes pass and you're still not going anywhere.

The radio is not announcing anything.  Weird.

Then... you bellow it.  "What's going on!?"

Observe:

Your sense of normalcy has been halted.
This has affected your comfort zone.
You want an explanation.

You notice something.  A gentleman in casual-business attire
is seen walking from car to car.  He stops at each one, bends down to
speak to the driver, and moves on.  The impression is that he is a fellow
morning commuter.  He's got the scoop on what's happening miles ahead.
Although he doesn't have to do this, he stepped up to the plate.  Several
things about this man:

He knows what is going on.
He's taken initiative to inform fellow travellors.
You'll listen to what he has to say.
If he has a recommendation, you'll probably consider it.

Now... let's rewind to the 1st century. Acts 2.

Rather than rehash how & why the people of Jerusalem are in a tizzy,
I'll just refer you to the last two articles (Derailment; thrown off course I and II).

The citizens of this city are "stuck in traffic" and want an explanation.
They'll listen to anyone who appears like he/she knows that they're
talking about.  A husky, bearded fellow comes out.  He's got the forearms
of a seasoned fisherman.  He doesn't appear like a Phd who's used to
the lectern.  But, who cares?  He's one of the weirdos who's been speaking
their foreign languages with eloquence.  Perhaps he can bring some
sense to all this...nonsense.

A long-time resident of Jerusalem barks out, "Hey!  That's Peter!  Hey, Pete!
What's going on?  Some of us are just plain baffled.  Others think you've
emptied a Keg. W'sup', Mister?"

Peter comes to the fore, clears his throat, and the audience of thousands
is dead still.

"There's something all of you have to know.  So, listen to what I've got
to say.  You're all gonna be crushed..."

In summary, that is what Peter's told them.

When read at a normal pace, this message, at most, takes
about ten minutes to recite.  Yet, what he tells them is monumental.

It is broken down into two main points:

The Scripture said this was coming. v.14-21
The Son solidified his conquest. v.22-36

Although it is two main points, it will take four articles
to break it all down.  Will you please hang with me?

Although spoken centuries ago, this message is VERY applicable to the residents
of Indianapolis today.

See you soon.
