Obama's America should revise drug laws, begin the process of decriminalisation. Felons forever denied the right to vote must be re-enfranchised. Many Americans hope that Obama's reign as the 44th President of the United States will help to ameliorate many of the remaining -ism's and injustices that plague the nation. I have heard more than once since Senator Obama became President-elect Obama that "there are no more excuses" for Black Americans. There is hope that an Obama presidency will do more than any other to reduce racial disparities in the criminal justice system and the violence that is concentrated in distressed urban neighborhoods. The world is watching. This article in the "The Australian" cautions that it will take more than pride to tackle the problem of crime and violence.
