A couple of days ago I posted pictures of some of the gorgeous full-size and art quilts at the West Michigan Quilt guild show. Today I want to share a few of the miniature quilts that caught my eye.
The first one was Small Treasure by Betty Carpenter. This quilt measures only 17" by 21". It is a miniature re-creation of a quilt made in 1937 by Betty's husband's grandmother. The original quilt is 80" by 100".
The tiny feathered stars and the itsy bitsy little applique flowers were amazing in person. This quilt won first place in the Miniature Quilt / All Techniques category.
The next little quilt to catch my eye was Forty Shades of Green by Patricia Chapman. This was also an award winner. It took Honorable Mention in the Miniature Quilt / All Techniques category.
I am partial to the color green and love Celtic knotwork. This little beauty combines those, along with a gorgeously executed Start of Bethleham. It measures only 24 inches square.

The next quilt, called Oh My Stars, was made by Laura Hillaker and quilted by DeLoa Jones. The 16 by 16 inch quilt is based on a pattern from Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting Magazine. The tiny, brightly-colored stars sparkly on the pale background.

Starry Night was a gorgeously beaded kaleidoscope quilt quilt by Amy Sims. It's based on Paula Nadelstern's technique and the beading was inspired by the work of Rose Hughes.

My pictures don't do these quilts justice, but I hope they provide some inspiration for your own mini quilt project!
