This week will see the biggest shot taken by Microsoft to get itself back to number one in this console race: a price cut. Taken their Arcade SKU of the Xbox 360 from $279.99 to $199.99, this is not only the first price cut that's actually afforadable, it makes it the cheapest console in town. Will it be enough for Microsoft to get back over Nintendo's Wii? Maybe not but having a console for $200 didn't hurt the Dreamcast. Here are some other releases, which includes a lot of multiplatform releases, and some of them are actually on the Wii as well
Nintendo Wii:
While this week will see two high profile releases, TNA Impact! and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed complete with all sorts of motion control doohickery, the best release this week is undoubtedly Wiiware's killer app, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free.
Xbox 360:
The price cut also coincides with the release of one of the biggest games of last year, Rock Band 2, which has a wider range of songs that Guitar Hero didn't sign exclusively to their franchise. The system will also see the release of TNA Impact! and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, as well as the off-road racer, Pure.
PlayStation 3:
No major exclusives this week for the PS3, just the aformentioned TNA Impact!, Star Wars, and Pure. No Rock Band 2 just yet.
Nintendo DS:
Nintendo's other money printing machine will see the release of Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen, Line Rider 2, and their version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed among the usual trapping of shovelware.
PlayStation Portable:
No major releases of note.
