By now, every copy imaginable of heavy metal giant Metallica's newest album, 'Death Magnetic', should be available to sample. One of the more intriguing versions is the 'Guitar Hero IIi: Legends of Rock' version, a truly unprecedented move for a video game or musical act.  Now, the reviews for this album have been the most favorable that Metallica has had in a while and this should help move up the number of people who wants to try out this new album.

After listening to the album and let me just warn everyone who's considering getting this package: this album is really intense, heavy, fast and rarely lets up. The twin guitar of Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield is on full display, especially in 'That Was Just Your Life', 'All Nighmare Long, 'My Apocalypse', and the instrumental 'Suicide and Redemption' The drums and bass isn't bad either and would probably make a better 'Rock Hero' track, but that's just a matter of preference.

This is a good move for the 'Guitar Hero' franchise as one of my main beefs with the game has been the lack of artists that are actually interesting to play as. As great as it is to have Motley Crue relase a new single and even though having Black Sabbath is essential to any guitar game, a whole Metallica album is far more refreshing and challenging.
