According to the latest report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, health officials have added 642 new cases of H1N1 swine flu to official tallies for the United States. So far, two people have died from the flu strain.

CDC officials have said that, before the outbreak is over, they anticipate cases spreading to all 50 states, resulting in serious illnesses and possibly more deaths, although most cases thus far have been mild.

Mexican officials have confirmed flu 42 deaths, and said that they were unable to get samples from another 70 people who died of flu-like illness recently.

Worldwide, officials have charted over 1,600 cases in 23 countries.
