Green Living Retreat at Lova Lava Land Eco-Resort
Sustainable & creative structures.

Lova Lava Land Eco-Resort announces its all-inclusive Green Living Retreat to be held July 17-21, 2009.

Participants choose between the resort's sustainable accommodations:
Pele's Paradise Yurt
Daisy the Daydream VW Camper Bus
Garth the Gecko VW Bus
Hillary the Hula Bus

Two healthy, organic, and yummy meals will be served for five days - with an option for guests to cook and share healthy recipes with others for dinner.
Each day will feature a "green living" theme that ranges from worm composting, to DIY hot water heaters, to analyzing which green cleaning products are the most value for the money. The workshop will be interactive and hands-on, with fun projects like making a usable item from a piece of trash that would otherwise go in a landfill and working through an alternative energy plan for your own home.

Creative Solar Energy

Day 1: Recycling, Composting, & Reusing
- The aim of this day is to demonstrate how to reduce waste in our daily lives and how we can prevent that waste from filling up landfills and polluting the earth. A fun eye-opening exercise will allow each person get a little closer to these concepts.

Day 2: Alternative Energy: Wind & Solar
- Starting with a tour of Lova Lava Land’s creative alternative energy system, each person will go through a worksheet to analyze their home's energy needs and create a design for their own alternative energy system.

Day 3: Eating Green: Organic Gardening/Buying & Cooking with Local & Organic Ingredients
- Beginning with a discussion of why eating green affects life expectancy (not to mention mother earth), sharing recipes and blind taste tests will be part of the fun.

Day 4: DIY (Do-it-Yourself) Solar Hot Water System
- We are going to build and install a budget solar hot water system. This will be a hands-on project that anyone will be able to take home and incorporate in their home.

Day 5: Living & Buying Green
- Confused about all the new green products coming out and if they are worth the price? We will review all types of green products and what they mean for you and the earth. A focus will be on finding affordable solutions that work.
