Classic tie bar from fineanddandyshop.com

The tie bar is the quintessential men's accessory.

Chic and sophisticated, it is a men's accessory that went out of fashion 50 years ago, but is gaining a resurgence in popularity.

At $29 a pop, the tie bar in the insert from fineanddandyshop.com is a steal, and a good start for someone who is just introducing themselves to the concept. Fine and Dandy shop was founded by Matt Fox in his apartment in NYC in October 31st, 2008. It is a an on line shop for Dandy inspired men's accessories as stated by Matt Fox . He runs the business out of his living room, in New York. They have minimal overhead, and buy directly from wholesalers, and can afford to provide items at reasonable cost.

Dandyism is a way of life. The following quotes are from an article in the Yale-New Haven article by Iola Apicella. It is a definitive treatise on Dandyism. Originally it was the appearance of the old french court nobility which the utilitarian middle class in England in the 19th century especially despised. "The air of superiority, irresponsibility, and inactivity". This is what the Dandy represented. "The Dandy pretended to be free of all human commitments, morality, passion-ambition". The french writers at the time, described him as such. Again, " He wasn't middle class, and drab, not stupid, and especially not trapped in a tedious existence. He wasn't rich, nor could compare with the people he liked to surround himself with" .This lack of means he made up with a delicacy and perfection of appearance. You don't have to subscribe to the philosophy, to benefit from the style.

Tiffany & Co. offers a reasonable priced tie bar it calls plain tie bar for $75. It is carried in Tiffany's at Union Square, in the city. It is like everything they make, simple and elegant.

Brooks Brothers on Post street, near Union Square, has a silver&gold tie bar, for $95 that is on sale through July 7th for $71.25.

A stainless steel tie bar for $65 is in stock and can be purchased on line at Mondera. For something really posh, you can head out to Louis Vuitton and get the opulent champs elysees tie pin it retails on line for $295, or you can go to the Union Square store for purchase.

Decades of fashion on Haight Street has a large selection of tie clips for men. They have over 40 to 50 stlyes that are cost friendly in these recessionary times. The price ranges are $10 to $60, they have many suitable selections anywhere between $20 and $29.
