Georgina Vendrell spring 2009
Georgina Vendrell is a Catalon fashion designer who was born in Barcelona in 1983.
In the FashionWindows article from Jan.17 2009 it is noted that her Skeleton Shapes collection for spring 2009, closely anticipates the look of the movie Twilight. Again from the FashionWindows article "Vendrells elongated silhouettes in very light enveloping fabrics is futuristic but with undertones of the underworld".
The article in FashionWindows states, that she anticipated and created this Twilight inspired look before the movie came out and was such a big hit. Georgina's intuitiveness and ability to anticipate and interpret modern trends sets her apart, and highlights people like her, who aren't afraid to be unconventional. This is how creative people don't conform to popular taste, but create it.
She presented for the first time to the public her collection Bad Boys at the 24th Edition of Modafad 2007 awards. She received the prize for the best collection.
Georgina Vendrell studied at the Institut Catala de la Moda and she interned with Joseph Font Haute Couture. In September 2008 she made her debut in the Ego Cibeles Madrid fashion week in the aforementioned collection 2009 spring collection Skeleton Shapes.
Her goal is to create her own menswear brand, in fact she already has it, she just doesn't have a place to sell it. She is trying to sell her clothes in some specialized boutiques in Barcelona, but it is difficult. She designs and buys the fabrics herself, and makes the patterns herself, and sows all the garments herself.
She is interested in selling her clothes in the USA, and on line, but hasn't reached this goal yet. Maybe with her recent success, with the Skeleton Shapes collection, she will obtain commercial success. Remember, it took Marc Jacobs 20 years to become commercially successful. He was considered unorthodox at the time by established designers like Tom Ford and Helmut Lang.
This March she presented Joseph Font's collection 51 in 080 Barcelona Fashion.
