Your Halloween party plans are set, but what to feature as a centerpiece?  In this article on the Boston Party Planning Page, find ideas that are both frightful and delightful!

If you're serving a seated dinner, try something like the centerpiece featured at right.  Using a hallowed-out pumpkin, this decorator added a fall floral arrangement for a classy centerpiece.  Want to spook yours up a bit?  Add dead flowers (or blooms painted black) instead and drape fake cobwebs throughout.

There's nothing more traditionally Halloween than jack-o-lanterns.  The carved pumpkin featured here is classically spooky and serves as a great focal point.  If you're having a party for kids feel free to carve a pumpkin that ends up more delightful than frightful, or use painted pumpkins instead.  Painted pumpkins are also a good option for anyone who's brush skills are better than his or her carving skills.

The Boston Party Planning Page loves this centerpiece for Halloween!  Not only are mums the perfect fall flower (and can be planted outdoors after your party ends), but they feature an artsy invitation that adds a haunting touch to the party table.

Don't have the benefit of a talented artist who can design an insert like the one seen here?  Try photocopying black and white photos of scary-looking folks from the days of yore, or black and white drawings of spiders, black cats, and witches, or print other Halloween images from home.  Want to skip the paper altogether?  Nestle fake spiders and cobwebs throughout the plant instead, or put plastic skeletons in between the blossoms.

A simple animal skull and small candles make a delightfully frightening centerpiece for a Halloween party.  Best suited for a dinner party or party for adults, this skull centerpiece is a novel twist on the more traditional skeletons often featured at Halloween.  Don't have any animal skulls hanging around?  You can buy the real thing through a website like Skulls Unlimited International or the faux-version through a website like Bone Clones.

Nothing's yummier than an edible centerpiece.  The version at right was created with sugar cookies on sticks.  Simply bake and frost the cookies on sticks, then stick the cookies into floral form inside a decorated bucket, pumpkin, or cauldron.  Not much of a baker?  Simply buy spooky lollipops and use them in place of the cookies.  These days you can even find treats to fit all kinds of dietary restrictions.  These, for instance are sugar-free, gluten-free, and kosher!

The best part about using an edible centerpiece?  You have instant party favors!  Instruct guests to take a cookie (or lollipop) with them as they leave the party and you'll have happy guests with full tummies.
