Dollywood, named for its founder Dolly Parton, country superstar-turned-actress; author; businesswoman; philanthropist, and now theater composer is the perfect vacation getaway for a growing number of people who want a mix of hyper activity set in one of the most picturesque mountain ranges on Earth.
Tucked away in the historic Smoky Mountains, the Dollywood Amusement Park has become an icon of this spectacular Tennessee region; a virtual city of fun in the cool Tennessee woods.  After a day or so at Dollywood, there is a veritable feast of diverse attractions for travelers between Dollywood’s host town of Pigeon Forge and nearby Gatlinburg, which is home to the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort.
Dollywood features seasonal Festivals, including KidsFest which premiers June 12 and runs through August 2.  KidsFest includes special entertainment, shows and activities that are just for children—and the young at heart. Soak up the summer fun where there’s something for the entire family. Bright, festive décor fills the park, creating the perfect atmosphere to celebrate a perfect summer day. See the Kratt Brothers, stars of the PBS series Zaboomafoo, in their exciting Creature Adventures show, where you’ll be amazed at animal tales you’ll hear. Venture over to Dolly’s Imagination Playhouse where three classic children’s books come to life on stage, with sing-along songs written by Dolly. Toss in more than 40 amazing rides and attractions, and Dollywood’s KidsFest is the place to be when summer rolls around!
Dollywood's breathtaking Tennessee setting provides the perfect backdrop for a variety of amusement park rides and attractions. Thrilling roller coasters, daring water excursions, family rides and kiddie rides-you'll find them all at Dollywood-along with one-of-a-kind attractions that let you experience our Smoky Mountain way of life. See a live show while you're here and don't miss the best roller coasters in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee!
Like its namesake, Dolly Parton, Dollywood delivers the best in live entertainment. Enjoy country, bluegrass, Southern gospel, classic rock and 50's music presented in our live stage shows.

For example, discover the heart and soul of Sha-Kon-O-Hey!—Land of Blue Smoke!—a show as big as the Great Smoky Mountains. This particular show is new and opens May 9 and runs through October 31.   Sha-Kon-O-Hey! captures the spirit of the Smoky Mountains and the rich heritage of the people who call them home.

This 45-minute show premieres on May 9, 2009, in DP’s Celebrity Theatre and incorporates scenic elements and stage effects never before seen at Dollywood.  Sha-Kon-O-Hey! takes audiences back to a time of great change in the Smoky Mountains in 1930s.  In a musical journey guided by eight new songs written by Dolly, a wizened storyteller guides a reluctant family as they bid farewell to the area that eventually becomes Great Smoky Mountains National Park . . . yet remains a place that lives forever in their hearts.  Along the way, audiences meet the folks who inhabited this great land—the settlers, the rail and lumbermen, the Native Americans and the shiners.  Come along as Dollywood pays tribute to the 75th anniversary of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

If you’re planning a family road trip through the southeast, Dollywood and the Gatlinburg area offer the tranquil solitude of a mountain hideaways plus a plethora of exciting shows, events and activities for every member of the family. It’s all good at Dolly’s place, so come and enjoy the southern hospitality.
