As Michiganders, as Americans, as Muslims, it is our Islamic duty to 'follow the laws of the land' [hadith] and to 'not harm those who have not harmed you' [Quran].  In the spirit of this, it seems the Center for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Detroit has issued a statement regarding any (alleged) individuals inviting others to partake in extreme behavior or violence.

In the video recording I have included below, the lawyer for CAIR-MI, Melanie Elturk, states: "Thwarting potential acts of political extremism is a religious obligation".

If any person is solicited to join a politically extreme organization or to make statements regarding the media crazed catch-phrase "jihad against the West", CAIR is requesting that you notify them of the incident.

Please view the short video below for in depth advice and instructions if such a situation were to arise.
