Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza Boulevard

After $25 -$35 million in renovations and five years time, the Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza Boulevard in the Downtown Disney area of Walt Disney World will open its doors once again to welcome guests on November 15! Originally, the hotel opened as a Howard Johnson's in 1972 and was one of the four original hotels comprising Hotel Plaza at Lake Buena Vista.  The remaining three at that time were The Hotel Royal Plaza, the TravelLodge, and the Grosvenor Resort.  Since then, the DoubleTree(originally Guest Quarters Suites), The Buena Vista Palace (designed by the same architect as the Contemporary), and the Hilton Hotel joined the "original four" and now there are seven in total.  Through the ages, Howard Johnson's later became a Courtyard By Marriott and it was during that time when the hotel suffered significant damage from the hurricanes in 2004 resulting in shuttering the hotel.  It's been closed ever since.

In what has become an extreme makeover – "hotel edition," the renovations undergone at this property are quite extensive and combine completely refurbished guest rooms, an atrium that stretches to the blue sky above visible through its glass-ceiling, a zero-entry pool, on-site game room for the kids, and new business meeting facilities; with 21st century allure. Each of the rooms will feature free high-speed Internet access, an on-site restaurant and lounge, brand new 32" LCD TVs in every room, and Garden Botanika bath products. Plus, the hotel will offer Rainforest Alliance certified coffees! What a great way to wake up every morning.

As part of the marketing campaign, the hotel plans a nostalgic look to the past in an effort to appeal to those families who many years ago, ventured on summer vacations and stayed at Holiday Inns along the journey.  It is with this appeal that Holiday Inn hopes to attract those kids, now with kids of their own, to come and stay and play; and relive those fond vacation memories. The real bonus is that with this special nod to days-gone-by campaigning, so too will come days-gone-by pricing with limited special offers. So, expect great deals when the marketing campaign gets into full swing. The hotel is already accepting bookings with arrivals starting on November 15. Here's to looking back in time!
