Jenny and John Taylor aren’t your average innkeepers.

A scrappy couple from South London – she ran a secretarial business and he was an amateur boxer – the pair moved to the Gulf Coast after falling in love with Florida’s sunshine and casual lifestyle. The Taylors first opened a hotel on swanky Longboat Key. "It just wasn't really our crowd."  Then they found  a dilapidated house in what used to be called the Silk Stocking District. “It was quite posh at one time, before it got run down,” she said.

After a complete renovation, the Taylors opened The Londoner Inn B&B and Tea Rooms, a six-room inn within a few blocks of downtown. An anglophiles dream, each of the spacious bedrooms is named for a stop on the Tube. In the Kensington room, pictures of Lady Di and her sons are hung like family portraits. Even the Queen herself has a spot of honor in the parlor. This stylish B&B offers comfy rooms, full English breakfast and optional afternoon tea, complete with homemade scones, lemon curd and clotted cream.

The Londoner Inn B&B
304 15th Street W , Bradenton. 941-748-5658 From $120 per night.
